Our client wanted to create a new brand to support their ambition to connect local food suppliers with local (professional) customers. This new brand is mainly an online activity with a place on the client’s e-commerce platform where suppliers can tell the story behind their products. Suppliers can also determine their own prices and communicate directly with customers.
The new brand’s online presence was key with the ability to introduce new elements such as registering online.
At the same time as this new brand was being created, our client was introducing a new e-commerce platform for its main business which needed to support both.
The new brand runs as a separate site on the client’s multi-site e-commerce platform, together with the main brand. The solution provides for shared login and shared basket capabilities between the brands, allowing the online customers of the platform to order just once and have the option of a shared delivery and/or shared invoice.
Integration with social media of suppliers to the platform enables direct contact with online customers.
The new brand, based on our client’s e-commerce platform but with a fresh and different look and feel, shares many of the platform’s capabilities including a truly responsive design.
Our client was able to take this new local food marketplace into a new era: an environment that demonstrates their belief in the importance of sustainability in the way food is produced, delivered and enjoyed. It also showed their belief (and ours) in the importance and added value of an inspiring online environment to support a healthy business environment.
The marketplace was delivered (developed and maintained) entirely by our off-shore team in India, working together with people from our client in The Netherlands. This new brand introduced several new business concepts, resulting in a very dynamic project with a high agile component.
